Using Municipal Bonds For Protection Against Lower Rates
Rates have probably peaked for this cycle, as attention is now focused on the size of fed rate cuts, rather than the timing. Municipal bonds unique call protection can be a great tool to lock in higher rates for longer, and a couple of our current offerings provide above average call protection. Village of Dousman, Wisconsin – Unlimited Tax General Obligation bonds have an A+ Underlying Rating with AA Rated BAM Insurance and a 4/1/2035 call date. For Investors experiencing a 29.6% tax rate, these offer the ability to lock in a taxable equivalent yield north of a 5% for the next 10 and half years. The table below displays all Competitive Callable Bank Qualified new issuance in September so far, with the Dousman issue providing the most call protection to date.
