How to Create Efficiency?

Take Referrals as an example.  Typically a community bank manually tracking referrals with Excel would follow these steps:

There is a dedicated person who sets up the Excel spreadsheet and becomes the hub for all communication.

The process looks like this:

Banker 1 wants to refer a customer to a lender.  Banker 1 completes a referral form and scans/emails, faxes, or mails the form to the dedicated hub person.

Dedicated hub person records the referral on Excel and forwards the referral form to the lender.

Lender responds, talks to the customer and completes another form and scans/emails, faxes, or mails the form to the dedicated hub person.

The dedicated hub person records the status and forwards the form back to Banker 1.
 
And so it goes for each time the customer is contacted until the opportunity is closed.  In some cases the process becomes so cumbersome that keeping each other updated on the status falls apart and the parties involved lose track of the status.

The result is lost sales and poor customer experience!
